Violet Learns
A Children's Book Series
Helping kids learn to listen to their bodies — one gentle story at a time.Violet Learns is a children's book series created to support body awareness, self-trust, and a peaceful relationship with food through playful, reassuring stories.✦ Launching September 15, 2026 ✦

How Violet Learns is different
Body trust over food rules: Violet’s stories focus on curiosity, feelings, and internal cues — not “good” or “bad” foods.
Developmentally appropriate: Nutrition concepts are woven into stories children actually enjoy, without lectures or pressure.
Created by a Registered Dietitian: Grounded in evidence, delivered with warmth.
“Pause and breathe, then feel inside —
your tummy’s voice will be your guide.”
A recurring message throughout the Violet Learns series
For Families - Food peace starts early.
For children ages 4–7 — and for:
Parents building a foundation of body trust early
Families navigating picky eating or food anxiety
Kids learning to listen to their bodies from the start
You want mealtimes to feel easy. You've read the advice — don't pressure, don't restrict, let them lead — and you still find yourself negotiating over one more bite on a Wednesday night when everyone's tired.Violet Learns was written for that gap. Not to teach your child what to eat. To help them stay connected to what their body is already telling them and give you the words to support that trust.
For Clinicians and Educators - A story-based tool that extends your work into the home:
Registered dietitians and feeding therapists
Pediatricians supporting eating conversations
School counselors and classroom educators
You've explained Division of Responsibility clearly. The parent nodded. They went home and dinner played out exactly the same. Not because they didn't listen, but because knowing isn't the same as having new language to reach for in a hard moment.Violet Learns is grounded in DOR, responsive feeding, and interoceptive awareness. Each one evidence-based. The books don't replace your clinical work. They go home with the family and quietly reinforce it between appointments..

Hi, I'm Kerry
It happened at 2 a.m.My youngest was two months old. I was soothing her to sleep when it hit me all at once: three girls. I have three daughters. After years of working with women across the lifespan, I'd seen the same thread running through so many stories. Women missing out on their own lives because they felt they needed to eat or look a certain way. Diet culture. Food rules. The belief that their bodies were problems to be fixed. And so often, it started in childhood.I wanted something different for my girls. Not rules or lessons. Stories.Stories that protect body awareness.
Stories that build self-trust.
Stories that help kids feel safe around food.Violet Learns was born from that wish. Each book follows Violet — a curious, playful child — as she learns to listen to her body, notice how she feels, and trust what's happening inside.Because children don't need to be taught to trust their bodies. They need to be allowed to keep listening.I'm a Registered Dietitian with a Master of Health Science in Nutrition Communications. I've worked in pediatrics, primary care, and research settings. But becoming a mom made this work personal.
Why This Matters
The Violet Learns series is grounded in evidence-based nutrition principles and aligns with feeding frameworks used by healthcare professionals. Research shows that children who trust their bodies develop healthier relationships with food, movement, and self-care as they grow. These books are my way of translating this science into something warm, playful, and accessible for families.
